Decide when to store,
sell, or hold

Plan wind and storage together using the price forecast, wind forecast, state of charge, and cost of battery wear. Once dispatched, the same activity flows into settlement and the ledger.

The windiest hour is often worth the least. Price near zero. Energy you made gets thrown away. By the time humans can react, the wind has already moved on.

A battery doesn't make energy. It makes timing. Flux Energy routes every megawatt-hour: store it, shift it, sell it, or stand by. Wind forecast and state of charge, turning each other. Storage and fleet, operated as one machine.

When the grid stumbles, the yard catches it in milliseconds. Capacity promised. Capacity kept. Then the city comes home. Charged on the surplus. Released into the peak. Every cycle is counted, so the batteries age on schedule, not by accident.

And the settlement posts itself. Same number, both desks. No wasted electrons. No missed moments. Flux Energy. Every megawatt-hour finds its moment.

The windiest hour is often worth the least

  • Wind peaks at night when prices are near zero. Without a plan, that energy sells for nothing or gets curtailed and never sells at all.
  • The battery is run by one team, the wind farm by another, the market desk by a third. Each optimizes its own piece with its own spreadsheet, and the phone call between them is slower than the gust.
  • Every cycle wears the cells. A dispatch that ignores degradation makes money this month and pays for it in year seven, and nobody can say which cycles were worth it.

Build the plan, approve it, and keep the record

1. Start with the forecasts and state of charge

The joint dispatch optimizer solves a rolling horizon hour by hour against the price forecast and the wind forecast, charging preferentially when wind is strong and prices are low, holding within measured SoC limits and round-trip efficiency, and returning the schedule with its SoC trajectory and revenue breakdown.

2. Set the priorities for each battery

Arbitrage weight, ancillary weight, charge and discharge thresholds, and a degradation penalty per cycle are configured per battery unit. The active objective is injected into every solve, so the plan reflects what the asset is actually for.

3. Review the schedule before execution

Schedule entries carry an approval step before execution. Every dispatch is recorded with its market price and estimated revenue, so the arbitrage P&L is a history, not an estimate reconstructed at month's end.

4. Carry awards and dispatch into settlement

Capacity contracts and ancillary products are registered with their bid-and-award lifecycle. Their settlements post into the same general ledger the wind farm's revenue does, with royalty adjustments feeding the landowner settlement run automatically.

A dispatch plan that includes the cost of using the battery

Surplus captured, peak sold

Energy that would have sold for nothing at 3 a.m. is released into the evening price on a schedule the optimizer chose, not one someone remembered to set.

Batteries that age on schedule

Degradation is a term in the objective, not an afterthought. The dispatch that wins is the one still worth running once cell wear is priced in.

Operations and markets see the same result

Operations and the market desk read one settlement. The battery's revenue, its capacity payments, and its royalty effect land in the ledger together.

BESS routing, without the jargon

A wind farm makes the most power when the wind blows hardest, often at night when prices are lowest. Without storage, that energy sells for almost nothing, or gets curtailed.

In Flux Energy, the battery and the wind farm run on one plan. Every hour, the optimizer looks at the wind forecast, the price forecast, and how full the battery is, and decides: store it, sell it now, hold it for the evening peak, or offer it to the grid as capacity. Every cycle is counted against battery wear. And when the market settles, the revenue posts to the ledger on its own.

That's BESS intelligent routing with Flux Energy.

What happens after dispatch

Royalty settlement

Battery royalty adjustments flow into the same fourteen-column settlement run as the turbines.

Market pattern matching

The price forecast the optimizer plans against is the one built from every market day Flux Energy has seen.

Bankability

Levelized cost of storage and degradation-adjusted cash flows use the same unit parameters the optimizer dispatches with.

Common questions

What does the optimizer actually decide each hour?

Charge, discharge, or hold, and how much, bounded by the unit's power rating, its state-of-charge limits, and its round-trip efficiency. It charges when the wind forecast is strong and the price is below the charge threshold, and discharges when the price clears the discharge threshold less the degradation penalty.

Does Flux Energy send commands to the battery?

Flux Energy produces the schedule and records the dispatch. Schedule entries pass through an approval step before they are marked executed. That record includes market price and estimated revenue and is what the P&L and the settlement are built from.

How is degradation accounted for?

As a cost per cycle in the unit's optimizer objective, so a discharge only wins if the price spread covers the wear. The same degradation model feeds the multi-year cash flows in the bankability engine.

What about capacity and ancillary revenue?

Capacity contracts and ancillary products are registered against the unit, bids and awards are tracked, and their settlements are imported and posted to the ledger alongside energy revenue.

Where does the battery show up in landowner royalties?

As a royalty adjustment attached to the settlement period. The adjustment is created against the BESS unit and picked up by the settlement engine in the same run as turbine production.
